It has been such a privilege working with Gay Muslims over the years and in hearing many of the narratives of my clients, I can understand how many are led to believe that being Islamic and gay are inherently incompatible. My own stepfather is Muslim, so I can appreciate the influence that one's upbringing can have on our everyday values. However, this is precisely the kind of representation we need in all major religions. The work of this Imam has the ability to change hearts and minds around the world and he is truly courageous to present himself openly and authentically with such a positive message.
